Kim Edgar is a warm and engaging live performer with a keen observation of the small details of people’s lives, and the ability to turn those details into stories that can touch the listener at a very emotional level.
This Edinburgh based pianist and singer/songwriter’s intensity and intimacy in performance have attracted glowing reviews:
“very moving, literate, allusive and expressively sung” * * * * * Scotland On Sunday
“heart stopping” Sunday Herald
“intense and though provoking” The List
“Imaginatively and beautifully crafted songs” Maverick
With three critically acclaimed solo albums under her belt, Kim has been described as “ an example of everything that’s great about contemporary music” and “probably one of the best songwriters in Britain today.” * * * * * Spiral Earth .
She is currently recording her fourth solo album, Held, which was delayed due to the COVID – 19 pandemic, and is now due to be released in December 2020.
One eighth of the The Burns Unit collective (which also included Karine Polwart, King Creosote and Emma Pollock), Kim currently shares her songs while touring extensively as a member of the pan – European folk band, CARA (cara-music.com). Described as “strangely uplifting, despite the well – phrased, sombre lyrics” and “a comfort blanket for the disillusioned soul” ( The BIG Issue ), Kim’s songs capture distilled emotions, which increasingly wide audiences across the UK, and beyond, are identifying with and responding to.
